I am based in the Boston area and provide customized, in-person and online SAT/ACT test prep, college essay, English language and History instruction to students from grades 4-12. I specialize in working with gifted and twice exceptional students and am well-versed in US tests and also the British 11+, GCSE and GCE exams.

This is a real picture of one of my youngest students (posted with consent). I started my tutoring career working online with older students and took on younger ones rarely and cautiously. Turns out, many students (like this one) thrive on the 1:1 instruction I am able to give them. My students are in my home state of Massachusetts and also New York State, Georgia, Texas and as far away as California! My students come to me with various strengths and weaknesses. I am particularly experienced in working with gifted and twice exceptional students but have worked with a wide range of talented young people - many of whom don't fit a mainstream model and aren't achieving results to match their abilities.
The beauty of 1:1 tutoring is that I get to customize every program to suit each student. Each program begins with a thorough online or phone consultation with the parent at which I will review the student's strengths and weaknesses and ask about goals for the program. We then meet for the agreed-upon number of sessions per week (online and in-person) and I provide the parent with an emailed summary of our session and any homework set. Periodically, I review the learning goals with students and parents. My programs are very flexible. Students have switched focus, paused tutoring, stepped up tutoring, changed their time slot, and many other changes. I encourage the active participation of parents and students in making the program work for them.

History club is an opportunity to learn about history, and about what historians do! Before class we will watch an episode of a carefully-chosen historical show and fill out a handout in preparation for an exciting class. We will bring these handouts to class and use it for our discussion. Most classes will revolve around a historical question like “Why did the American Revolution succeed?” or “What role did women play in the Civil War?” We’ll use our online format to explore online museum exhibits and archived primary sources too. After the session, students may use writing prompts to hone their writing skills and feedback on any submitted work will be provided.
